Granny Dora

ok...so i absolutely adore this woman. she turned 98 on April 7, 2012. she died a day later on April 8, 2012, easter sunday. this woman was amazing. i was so happy that i was able to go to see her at the rehab center the day before she died. i held her hand and told her she looked beautiful. she did. she would just giggle and roll her eyes. i read her her birthday cards from us, and the card from mylie of grandma and her holding hands. she told me how grateful she was that she was able to meet miss preslie. she told me how sweet and wonderful mylie was. she also told me that she adores shay and thinks she is an actress. we talked about how i gave her her nickname granny iota and how it was similar to the one we gave shaylie... shaylie magoosel. i love that woman. she is my hero and i wouldn't mind if i was even an smidge of what she was! LOVE YOU GRANNY!!!

Dora Price Fitch

April 7, 1914 ~ April 8, 2012
Dora Price Fitch, age 98, Orem, UT, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Born on April 7, 1914, in Nephi UT to Ruby Patten Price and Hershell Joseph Price, she was the first of four children. Dora lived close to Liberty Park as a child and attended the 2nd Ward of the Liberty Stake. She was baptized in the Salt Lake Tabernacle when she was eight. In 1929, when she was 15, Dora's family moved to San Diego, CA, at the beginning of the Great Depression. She graduated from San Diego High School where she met Warren Fitch. While both attended San Diego State, they continued courting. Warren and Dora married on June 14, 1936. Their children are: Marian Florence Fitch (Robert Marriott of Vista, CA), James Warren Fitch (Sheron Milne Fitch of Sandy, UT), Robert Hershell Fitch (Kathie Harper Fitch of Orem, UT), David Ross Fitch (Terrie Brown Fitch of Vancouver, WA), Linda Ruby Fitch (Denny Howard of Orem, UT), Donna Carolyn Fitch (Paul Wilde of Tualatin, OR) and Steven Daniel Fitch. "Every child planned and wanted!" Warren and Dora were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple November 23, 1940. A devoted wife and superb homemaker, Dora was the center of a happy home, a light and inspiration for good and a wise teacher. Home was a foretaste of Heaven. Dora's hands were skillful and her mind was alert and appreciative and orderly. She was faithful in serving in her Church callings and very involved in her later years making items for the Church's humanitarian projects. She leaves a legacy of faith, love, and steadfastness. Dora and Warren served in many callings, always supporting one another. They served in the Los Angeles and Provo Temples together as ordinance workers. Dora experienced the sting of death when her little sister Erma died in 1921 at age 4. Her husband Warren died in 1984, and her son Steven died in 1987. Grandson Spencer W. Howard preceded her in death in 1979. Her 38 grandchildren were the light of her life. Her 98 great-grandchildren are treasured. In 2005 both great-grandson, Styles Scott Fitch preceded her in death at age 14 and great-granddaughter, Faith Joan Fitch. Dora is survived by her brother's David and Joe Price of San Diego, CA.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandma. I'm glad you were able to get a picture of her with Preslie before she passed away though. That's one picture I would hang in her room proudly.
