day four... Balboa and Newport

today was our chill day...we hung around in our comfies in the hotel for a while and finally got ready to go. we went to get kailee and took the girls to the park while we waited for her to be ready.

we went to balboa island and shopped around, had amazing balboa bars, walked along the beach, and went to the pier for an early dinner at ruby's. we had a great chill day. it was good to rest our feet for a while before another 2 days at disneyland.

day three.... San Diego... parents stomping grounds

so we decided to get up and after church go back to San Diego to visit both my parents stomping grounds... it was a blast. #1 because it put things into place for me...I have asked my parents about a thousand times each where they grew up... now I always knew it was San Diego... but WHERE?!?!? it would drive me crazy that i could never remember. now I can say i don't think i will ever forget.

first we made a stop at El Indio... (where craig almost died running into the street, but my uncle saving his life.) it was delicious!

next we traveled to my dad's old house. he grew up in this house most of his life. it is crazy that it is soooo small and they had 7 kids in there. how did they all fit? we drove around his schools, churches, hang outs...etc. it was so much fun and dad was FULL of fun stories. that was truly the BEST to have him navigate us around and all the stories are now apart of my life.

Dad's House on El Cajon. it was fun to see how little it was. the porsche was just like the one he drove when he lived here... funny it was only a couple houses down.

Mom's house on Fuerte Drive. it was beautiful up high on Mt. Helix. there were people on the driveway and kailee asked them if we could take a look around. turns out they had just bought it and were remodeling the whole thing. so we got to see some things in the house that were actually original when they moved in in 1962. it was awesome!!!

last stop was La Jolla Beach. the girls went crazy!!! they ran around screaming playing in the sand and getting their feet wet. it was so much fun to watch them.

day two...San Diego Zoo

we decided to take it easy after our 12 hours day at disneyland...haha and drive to San Diego to see the zoo. it was awesome...then only bummer thing was that chris and papa weren't feeling great. so with only being in the park for 5 hours, eating lunch and SEVERAL potty stops, we didn't get done as much as we had hoped. the girls had a blast.

*funny story... shay was scared of pretty much everything. she was not understanding the concept of glass that separates us from whatever is behind it. so after finally getting her to look at the reptiles and kinda sorta getting that they couldn't get her we took her to see the gorillas... there was a huge one just sitting in the middle of the field chewing on some bark. it was putting on quite the show. when all of a sudden it got up and left out of sight. then we turned around and it was coming straight for the glass to us...i told shay to hold out her hand on the glass and she was screaming...then right in front of us it put its bum to the glass. it was super funny! shay didn't like it at all.
